Our Mothers Mate Doula Services
I believe that one of the most important reasons for having a doula is to make a woman feel safe and relaxed wherever she decides she wants to birth her baby, and to support her decisions without making any judgements.
Continuity of care has been proven to be one of the most important factors in women achieving the birth that they had planned for. Doulas will meet their clients in their pregnancy so that by the time they have their babies they will have a close and mutually supportive relationship
I completed my training in 1999, and since then have been privileged to be present at the birth of many families. I have experienced twin births, water births, elective caesareans, straight forward physiological birth and ventouse and forceps assisted births, and I have learnt so much from all of the different experiences.
Post natally I have supported many families, including four sets of twins
I continue to have a passion for learning and have been present at many study days and workshops, including those on waterbirth, tongue tie,and Penny Simkin’s workshop “When Survivors Give Birth”
I have also completed the Baby Friendly Initiative training on breastfeeding, which enables me to be a Breastfeeding supporter at my local hospital, and the Breastfeeding for London IBCLC course
I am mother to three grown up children and grandmother to three beautiful little girls, (one set of twins) and one boy, born in July 2012, 2013, and 2015..
My hobbies include walking with my two dogs in the Hertfordshire countryside, having the opportunity to spend time on my narrow boat, and finding time to use my gym membership!
